Push notification first. If it is not read, WhatsApp. If that is not read, SMS. Once each, on a ladder your school sets — never the same notice four times, and never at eleven at night.
The circular in the school bag is not communication.
It arrives crumpled, on Friday, about Thursday. So the school moves to a WhatsApp group, where a teacher's personal number becomes the school's helpline and one parent's opinion about the bus route becomes everybody's evening. Neither is a record, and neither can tell you whether a parent was actually told.

A ladder, not a broadcast
Each message climbs only as far as it needs to. A parent who reads the app notification never gets the SMS, which is both kinder and cheaper.
Your school's own WhatsApp number
A business account in your school's name, so a parent sees the school writing to them and no teacher's personal number is on a thousand phones.
Quiet hours, respected
Nothing goes out at night. Fee reminders and notices are held to the hours a family would expect to hear from a school.
You can see what was sent, and what landed
Per notice, per parent: sent, delivered, read. When a parent says they were never told, you have an answer rather than an argument.

The questions worth asking a vendor
Including the ones where our answer is no. A school that buys on a promise and finds a gap does not renew.
- Do we need our own DLT registration for SMS?
- Yes — transactional SMS in India requires the school to be a registered Principal Entity, with Edustians authorised as its telemarketer. We walk you through it; it takes a few weeks and about ₹5,000 a year, and we tell you this before you sign, not after.
- Do parents need to install an app?
- No. A parent with no app still gets WhatsApp and SMS. The app makes it cheaper and richer, but it is not a condition of being told about your child.
- Can teachers message parents directly?
- Within the school's rules, and it is recorded. A conversation about a child should be visible to the school, for the teacher's protection as much as the family's.
